The NMTC Korle-Bu aims at offering all our students a broad and balanced curriculum that provides rewarding and stimulating activities to prepare them for the best social and cultural life.

Whether it is our books or hands-on training, we make sure each student gets personal attention to cope up and flourish in every subject for better scores and a brighter future.

FACULTY
There are 2 main faculties at NMTC, namely Registered General Nursing (RGN) programme and Registered Midwifery (RM) programme. There are various departments under each faculty. The departments under RGN programme include; Medical-Surgical Nursing; Public Health Nursing, Obstetric Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing and Allied Nursing. The Registered Midwifery (RM) programme also has the following departments; obstetric nursing, medical-surgical nursing, neonatal-Paediatric Nursing, Family Planning Nursing, Labour, Puerperium, and Allied Midwifery.
Faculty members at NMTC, Korle Bu have a deep respect for pragmatic and academic learning and also strive to achieve excellence, in both areas. Tutors focus on instructional performance to ensure that the college’ mission is achieved. Their commitment to work has a profound effect on the quality of nursing education given to students.

REGISTERED GENERAL NURSING
Admission to the RGN programme: It is a diploma programme open to males and females. The faculty admits applicants from all cultures, social or ethnic religious background without prejudice to creed, race or gender.
The college’s curriculum has continued to evolve in response to the changing health needs of the society. The programme is for six-semesters leading to the award of Diploma in Registered General Nursing
The programme demands a continuous assessment of students throughout the semesters. Students are assessed on their performance in class tests, mid-semester and end of semester examination in both theory and clinical practice.

REGISTERED MIDWIFERY
RM programme is a Diploma programme open to only female students. The faculty admits applicants from all cultures, social or ethnic groups irrespective of religious background without prejudice to creed; race or gender.

ACADEMIC SESSION
Academic session comprises two semesters for a year
First semester: August to December
Second semester: February to June

STRUCTURE OF SEMESTER
A semester shall be of 16 weeks duration and shall be structured as follows;
16 weeks of Teaching
1 week Revision
1 week of Examination
Students are required to have clinical experience during the vacation of first to 5th semesters. Four weeks of this period shall be for night duty.

COURSE CREDIT
One (1) course credit shall be defined as follows;
One hour lecture
One hour tutorial or
One practical session of 6 hours field work
Students are expected to make 85% attendance before they are allowed to sit the licensure examination
